Great question; it's hard to move big plants but there are strategies that work. The simplest is to get a strong helper and a small floor mat or sturdy piece of heavy duty canvas. Work the mat or canvas under the pot and each of you take a side and gently move the plant from outdoors to the garage for the winter. If you live in a very cold climate protect the plant by wrapping it gently once it is in its winter home. If you have no help, a small hand truck can be used to move the pot. It's a good idea to prune back the summer growth - pruning guides and vidoes have lots of tips. Good luck!

Thanks for your help! I have a small lemon tree in a heavy pot on the porch. Do you have any recommendations for the best way to move it inside or should I just throw it out and start over next spring?
