Barbara Mayer

Senior Gardener

For me, the perfect way to greet a new morning in summer is to put on some rubber clogs and rush out to the garden to see what’s happened overnight. What joy when a new daylily has opened or a tomato shows signs of red. Occasionally (okay, often) a critter has dropped by and done some damage. Not long ago, a primrose was lying on top of the dirt. Something or other dug it up in the night and left it on top of the ground for me to replant.

Here I am, admiring some fabulous container plants in Savannah, Georgia.

Gardening and garden writing are my main passions these days. Together with my partner, Peter, I have created many small gardens on our property of several acres.
